Pet Battle Rework

We realised that the old pet battling system felt like a chore and was rarely used. Pets had to fight each enemy one by one, which was time-consuming and less rewarding compared to battling them with the character. To address this, we've redesigned the pet battle system to be more user-friendly. While it still involves some interaction, it's minimal and more automated, aligning with our game's design philosophy. Here are the key changes we've introduced:

  • Pet's now automatically battle themselves. Users simply need to press the "Battle" button on any unequipped pet and it will go away and perform its own battles.
  • The duration of a pet's battle (i.e., how long it can fight before needing further interaction) is influenced by three factors: the pet's health, its stats, and the location. Health is the primary factor; for instance, sending a pet into battle with half health effectively reduces its battle time by half. Additionally, both the pet's stats and the level of enemies within the location impact how long the battle lasts. In weaker areas, the pet can fight for longer periods.
  • The EXP gained from pet battles is directly tied to the EXP per second (EXP/s) offered by each location. In higher-level locations, the EXP/s increases, allowing pets to earn more EXP quickly. However, these areas also reduce the amount of time a pet can battle without further interaction. Players must choose whether to engage more frequently with their pets in these high-reward areas or opt for a more hands-off approach by choosing lower-level areas where pets can battle longer with less supervision.
  • The pet's condition impacts its stats, which in turn affects its battle duration. For example, if a pet is hungry, its stats will decrease, reducing the maximum time it can remain in battle.
  • Pet's no longer battle hunted enemies as it used to. Instead they perform their own battles completely seperately from the character.
  • Unless cancelled, the pet will always return back from battles with 0 health. The idea is that your pet continues to fight until it cannot fight anymore. This is also the reason why health is the most influencal in determining how long the pet can battle for.
  • If a user cancels a pet's battle early, they will forfeit any rewards, and the pet’s health will decrease proportionally to the time that has already elapsed.
  • When a pet returns from battle, it automatically goes back to the location where it was fighting. If you are not present at that location when the pet returns, you will not be able to interact with it until you travel to that specific location.

Pet Hunting

Characters can now send their equipped pet to hunt on their behalf. This enables them to effectively hunt enemies without interrupting their current action or skill.

Pet Inventory Inspection

Users can now view the pet inventories of other characters by visiting their character profile, scrolling to their equipped pets, and clicking "View More".

Further Pet Changes

  • Increased the minimum happiness per pat from 5 to 15.
  • Increased the maximum happiness per pat from 30 to 45
  • Increased the speed of the patting animation.
  • Removed the ability to "Callback" a pet when it is doing an action. Instead, the user can simply just press the "Cancel" button next to the associated action.

Additional Changes

  • We’ve simplified the class options in the new user registration form to just four choices: Warrior, Shadowblade, Ranger, and Forsaken. This change aims to reduce confusion among new players overwhelmed by too many options. Please note that this adjustment only applies to creating brand new accounts, not new characters. Characters will have the opportunity to change their class in a future update.
  • Added a notice to the top of "Alchemy" and "Fishing" pages that tells the player that Bait and Vials can be purchased at the vendor. This notice will not appear for characters above level 3 in the respective skill.
  • Changed "Combat Level" to "Total Level" on the guild home page member list.
  • Added a "Respond" link to the friend request notification.
  • Added a message on the character select page that only three characters can be active at one time.

#### Bug Fixes

  • Removed incorrectly displayed message when purchasing a subscription on iOS.
  • Fixed the ability to verify an email address when not logged in (for instance, if you play on the web app but you attempt to verify your email address using your phone)

  • Added leaderboards for shrine donations.
  • Due to the impending release of the mobile apps, we have updated the games Code of Conduct to forbid the use of playing the game on multiple devices simultaneously. (Clarification: This rule specifically targets users who exploit the game's multi-device functionality for unfair advantages. If you're questioning whether a certain action is permissible ("Is doing X OK?"), the answer is very likely to be "Yes". This rule will not impact the vast majority of players currently engaged in the game.)
  • Added "In Progress" badge to the guild raid box when a raid is currently active.
  • Fixed the incorrect display of "You can perform this skill X times" to accurately reflect the number of available uses during certain edge cases.
