Version 0.47.1-PB - Tavern Clarification

  • Made minor improvements to the tavern anti-spam detection.

Tavern Clarification We’ve noticed some confusion about why the goal system is part of the Tavern. So, let’s clear that up.

First and foremost, the Tavern system is completely experimental and we’ve been very open about that from the beginning. That means we’re approaching it differently than other parts of the game.

Originally, the Tavern wasn’t even meant to be part of the game. We used to rely almost entirely on Discord for things like announcements and communication. However, with the recent news that Discord is planning to go public and launch an IPO, we’ve started thinking ahead. A company going public is usually the point when platforms begin to change - often in ways that put profit over user experience. (There’s even a word for this: enshittification.)

Based on how things usually go when a company goes public, we’re genuinely concerned that Discord might follow a similar path. That’s why we’ve made a conscious decision to reduce our reliance on it and start exploring other ways to engage with the community… just in case things go south. Now, to be clear… this isn’t a guarantee. Discord might not change at all. But we’d rather stay ahead of the curve than be caught off guard if it does.

With all that in mind, we introduced the Tavern as an experimental way to communicate in-game. Everything in the Tavern is part of a trial-and-error process. We’re simply testing different ideas to see what works and what doesn’t. The Tavern isn’t meant to be a full-on replacement for Discord. Both can exist side by side. The goal here isn’t to ditch Discord completely... it’s simply to avoid becoming too dependent on it.

Nothing is set in stone. If the system doesn’t serve us or the community well, we’re fully prepared to scrap it entirely. But the objective is incredibly clear… we want to reduce our dependence on Discord, and the Tavern is one step toward that.

Again, we really want to emphasize that the Tavern is very much in an experimental phase. So things might change… possibly a lot… as we figure out what makes sense for the game and the players.

With all that said, just because the Tavern is experimental doesn’t mean it’s a free-for-all. Our Code of Conduct still applies, and that includes things like spam - which many of you have rightly raised concerns about. We’re actively working on better ways to reduce spam, while also rewarding players who genuinely contribute to the conversation. At the end of the day, a lively Tavern with the occasional low-effort comments is still far better than an empty, abandoned one.

Since this is all still in testing, if the Tavern ends up unused or becomes a mess we can’t clean up, we won’t hesitate to shut it down and go back to the drawing board.

Simply put, let’s see how things go. We hear your concerns about spam, and we get it. But with a few tweaks, and further improvements to our auto moderation system, we believe the Tavern can become a fun, useful space for players to connect. And if it doesn’t work out? Back to the drawing board. That’s the whole point of experimenting - to try things, learn, and improve.

Version 0.47.0-PB - Museum

Museum

  • The museum is a place where you can track your collections - skins, backgrounds, and even collectibles.
  • Collectibles must now be "used". After being used, they are added to your museum collection.
  • We plan to introduce more collectibles in the future, particularly rarer ones.
  • Once a collectible has been added to the museum, it cannot be removed.
  • Each category has its own set of milestones which give out shards and tokens.
  • Collectibles milestones count your total items collected (rather than unique items). This also applies to enemies.
  • Enemies are tracked in the museum from today onwards. Every enemy you defeat is tracked in the museum.

More

  • Introduced a strike system. If you violate our Code of Conduct, your account will receive a strike. The strikes change in severity: from warnings to suspensions. Your strikes can be viewed on your character page. Other players cannot see your strikes.
  • Added small daily and weekly goals in the tavern that distribute a nominal number of shards for contributions.
  • Fixed special items background in vendor.
  • Fixed guild component reparation costing more marks than listed.
  • Added tavern posts to the metrics list.
  • Fixed bug when releasing a pet with a custom name.
  • Fixed page refreshing bug on mobile.
  • Fixed bug when attempting to trade with a person who is trade locked.

Version 0.46.0-PB - Merchant Updates

  • All past seasonal campaign skins and pets before July 7th 2024 are now available in the Legacy Vault merchant.
  • The prices for pets are purposefully expensive for two reasons:
    • To maintain strong incentive for obtaining pets through the event itself.
    • To anticipate future updates where shards will be obtainable through other methods, ultimately making top-tier rewards more accessible over time.
  • More ways to obtain shards will be introduced in the future.

Version 0.45.0-PB - Merchants

  • We’ve renamed the “Vendor” to “Merchants” and updated its design. Previously, the vendor page was a single place where you could buy premium items, such as skins and inventory slots. With the introduction of shards, the shop’s role expanded. Now, we’re planning further changes.
  • Shards will no longer be tied only to dungeons. Instead, they will become a broader currency that you can earn from other parts of the game (such as future campaigns or events). This gives players more ways to collect shards, not just through dungeon runs.
  • We’re also introducing past campaign rewards (like skins and pets) into the Celestial Exchange (Previously the shard shop). This is where you’ll be able to use shards to buy rewards from previous campaigns.
  • There are two important things to know:
    • Past rewards (skins and pets) will only appear 12 months after the original campaign.
    • For example, rewards from Yule Fest 2024 will become available when Yule Fest 2025 starts.
  • The best rewards will require a large number of shards - particularly for the pets. We want campaigns to always be the fastest and most efficient way to earn these rewards. The Celestial Exchange simply gives latecomers a second chance to get items they missed.
  • As the shop has grown beyond just premium tokens and dungeon shards (and now includes event rewards and other currencies) the name “Vendor” no longer made sense. We renamed it to “Merchants” to reflect its expansion.
  • The campaign items will appear in the Celestial Exchange later this week.
  • We're still in the process of improving the overall UI and UX to make the whole system easier to navigate. This will be continuously improved over the following week.

More changes

  • We've rephrased, and clarified our Code of Conduct due to the introduction of the new communication changes.
  • We've updated our Privacy Policy. This change includes our newest APM (application performance monitor) which is solely used to monitor the performance of IdleMMO to ensure that it remains fast and responsive.

Version 0.44.3-PB - World Boss Push Notifications

  • You’ll now receive push notifications when your travel ends or when you defeat a world boss.

Version 0.44.2-PB - New Badges

  • Added 16 new badges. To obtain the badge, you must to the appropriate action for it to be distributed. For instance, if you're already level 100 in strength, you must obtain strength EXP for it to be registered.

Version 0.44.1-PB - Bug Fixes and Tavern Changes

  • Reactions to tavern posts are now tied to your account, not individual characters. So if you have multiple characters, you can now only react to a post once. Reactions you made previously (when they were character-based) haven’t been carried over to your account. So you might notice that you can react again to posts you already reacted to before.
  • If you switch characters in one tab and then go back to another tab where your old character is still showing, the game will now automatically update to reflect your current character. This prevents a "bug" where you might accidentally start an action on the wrong character.
  • Improved messaging when you get the occasional "Unauthenticated" error after leaving the game open for a while.
  • Fixed bug when an error occurs and multiple error pop-ups appear at the exact same time. You may have noticed this happen when the game starts to update.
  • Added "Suggestion" tag to the Tavern. This is just a test run as we are still slightly unsure whether we want to keep suggestions confined to Discord or to completely open them up to the tavern. This all depends on the quality of the discussions involved.
  • Thumbs down can now only be applied to posts in the suggestions tag and trade tag.
  • UI fixes in conquest.
  • If you're not in a guild, you'll now see a notice on the guild page pointing you toward the tavern. It's a helpful way to discover guilds that are currently looking for new members.

Version 0.44.0-PB - Tavern and Conquest Rewards

Tavern

Introducing the tavern - a new way of communicating with other players of IdleMMO without having to leave the app. This reduces the reliance on our Discord server.

The tavern is currently in experimental mode, and may change or be removed at any time.

Features

  • You can mention other players, and they will get an in-game notification. This can be achieved by doing @username
  • You can subscribe to topics, meaning you will be notified one every reply.
  • If you have created a post, you can unsubscribe from your own topic if you don't want to receive a notification on every response.
  • You can tag items in the post and comments by wrapping the item name (case sensitive) in two square brackets. Like [[Coal Ore]].
  • You can react to all posts and comments.
  • Blocked players cannot reply or react to your posts or comments.
  • It costs 2,500 gold to create a post in the tavern. However, replying is free.
  • Posts remain active for 30 days. It will automatically be archived at 30 days of inactivity.
  • We currently have the following tags: General, Support, Trade, and Guild. We are open to more tags in the future.

Please ensure you follow our Code of Conduct when interacting in the tavern. We will slowly adjust the system, and the Code of Conduct as the system matures. Any violations will result in your account being muted which will forbid you from interacting with other users (including the mailbox and commenting on other profiles.)

Conquest Rewards

We're introducing two changes:

  • Buffs to the effects for the winners of the location.
  • Top 5 guilds of the locations will now receive regional effects instead of just the top guild. The higher your guilds position, the stronger your effects.

These are the new effects range (from position 5 to position 1):

  • +2% -> +10% Primary Skill EXP
  • +1% -> +3% Primary Skill Efficiency
  • +2% -> +10% Dungeon Magic Find
  • +2% -> +10% World Boss Magic Find
  • +2% -> +10% Dungeon EXP
  • +2% -> +10% World Boss EXP
  • +2% -> +10% Hunting EXP For instance, this means position 5 will get 2% Primary Skill EXP. Position 1 will get 10% Primary Skill EXP.

All currently applied guild conquest effects have been removed. If you have already applied the effects in the past, you must re-apply them.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed with of the shrine button.
  • Fixed health when in a dungeon.
